Privet from Russia!

We're in an internet room at our hotel in Novosibirsk waiting to check into our room so I can only write a little bit. For this blog, I will take an excerpt from my journal.

"Ok, so let's talk about how lines work in Russia. You have to stand very close or someone will come & just cut right in front of you, even though it's totally obvious that there are a million people in the line. And you really don't want to stand close because everyone stinks! No regard for personal hygeine (spelling?); no deodorant; no gum or mouthwash. Or, what I like even better...someone comes from out of nowhere & goes directly to the front of the line & says to the person who is next in line, "We're late" and proceeds to walk right ahead of them."

It is very interesting being in a different country. We are having a really good time though and have been very safe and well. It helps that my husband is an "armoire"... meaning a very large and strong man (as referred to by a lot of members from the Omsk branch). Everyone here is really excited to see us and has been very friendly.

I'll try to post again in about a week when Adam insists we come to an internet cafe so he can be there for the draft for his fantasy football league. Yes, we still have our priorities straight even though we're on vacation and will be in one of the prettiest cities in the world!! (st. pete's)

Much love!

  • I love reading your update! I think you should bring your journal and all your pictures when you come to the Fair. We'll all sit around your computer looking at the slideshow you've prepared and listening to you read from your journal, and it will be straight out of the 1960s---except I'll like it!
