Easter Weekend

This weekend was kind of busy for us. Adam and I had our niece Kailye come over on Friday and so we could take her to the zoo and then have a little sleep over. Neither Adam nor I had been to Hogle Zoo in probably 15 years so we were excited to go. Kailye was excited too and we had a really good time. There were TONS of people there because it was spring break for almost all schools in Utah, but it still was good. The weather was nice and we stayed for probably 3 hours. We have some pics, but I'll have to post them later because the camera is with Adam at the moment.

Saturday Adam, Kailye & I drove to the rugby field and picked up Trish. Adam stayed and got ready for the game and Trish and I went to Costco to get some food for Easter dinner at Val's house the next day. Kailye was not having a very fun day...probably because Adam and I let her stay up way too late....sorry. She really needed a nap and was finally able to take one back at our house after the game was over. I was probably more grateful for her sleep than anyone else... 4 year olds are hard! She is a good kid, but even with that, she's all over the place and does not lose energy! And kids have to look at and touch everything...at all times. It was kind of draining and we only had her for 24 hours! She did good though and we had fun having her. Adam was really great and I'm very thankful for his help and patience! He will be an awesome dad.

Katie, Josh, and their kids were in town so they came over to the rugby field to watch for a few minutes while they ate their lunch. They had to go to a birthday party so they weren't able to stay long, but it was fun seeing them!

We went to dinner that night at a new place by my work called Parrothead Island Broiler. It was a really fun atmosphere and even though I didn't like what I ordered (a shredded pork sandwich), I liked the place overall and will definitely go back and try something else. And they give you a piece of pineapple and a Dove chocolate with your meal, which I thought was a nice little touch....like at the tanning salon when they leave you a little candy on the clean towel in your booth.

Sunday I made cherry turnovers for breakfast because I decided that they're just too good to only have on Christmas morning. We went to church and Adam taught the lesson in Sunday School. Then during Sacrament meeting, the primary did their program and it was SO CUTE! We couldn't stay for all of it because we had to leave to get to Val's house in time, but there were some cute kids and cute Easter outfits! It was so funny to watch them, they're just adorable.

Dinner at Val's was excellent, as always. She always decorates so well and has cute place cards for everyone and great food. This year she cooked cedar-planked salmon (along with ham and roast beef and tons of other sides) and it was definitely my favorite part of the meal. It was delicious! I LOVE salmon! She also makes these crescent rolls that are amazing and I always end up eating way more than I should. It was a fun dinner and we had a really good time.

Well, I think that about sums it up... a busy, eventful, good weekend.

  • Oh that sounds like the funnest weekend! The food was my favorite part. Our Easter menu wasn't that exciting.

I sent you an email a couple weeks ago. I haven't heard back from you! I was giving you a hard time for being in Provo and not dropping in on us! ;)

  • I'm so glad we got to see you, even if it was only for a few minutes. Kailye is so much bigger than I remember!
