I Was Soooo Close....
Last Thursday I really needed to fill my car up with gas, but for some reason, I only put in $10. Well I drove all over on Friday and Adam and I drove a few places on Saturday and by that time we REALLY needed gas. Well Saturday evening we ran out to get some dinner (cheese pizza at Fazoli's that was really good and an awesome bargain!) and it was snowing! SNOWING, people. So needless to say, we took our hot pizza back home to watch our movie instead of putting gas in the car.
Last night I figured I should get up a few minutes early this morning so I could stop and get gas on the way to work. Well, I didn't get up any earlier and didn't have time to stop and get gas. I thought I'd probably make it though, so I figured I'd be ok and I'd just go to my meeting then head straight to the gas station after it was done.
I was at the freeway exit, second car in line at the stoplight, and my car started kind of revving. I knew that wasn't a good sign. The light changed and I pushed on the gas and the car died. I was searching all over the dash for the emergency blinkers and I could not find them so a couple people behind me just thought I was stupid and wasn't going even though the light was green. I eventually found them and people went around me. There was a car behind me with two men in it and they got out to see if I was ok. I told them that I just ran out of gas so they pushed my car over to the side so others could get around it. They asked if I wanted a ride to the gas station, but I didn't really want to go (for many reasons!) so I explained to them that I work just down the road and that I'd call someone and have them come help me. They said ok and were on their way.
I called my friend Jen and asked her to come rescue me. I just sat there on the shoulder, almost directly underneath the overpass and waited, doing my makeup when the light was green so that the cars who were stopped at the red light wouldn't just think I was doing my makeup in the car in the most inconvenient place for everyone. Two other cars stopped to see if I was ok and I told them that I'd already called someone to help me. Right before Jen made it, I saw those same two guys who had helped push me to the side and they pulled over and had brought me some gas! I was SO THANKFUL to them!!! I offered to pay them for the gas and it was completely out of the question. They were just nice men and I was so glad to have them help me instead of anyone scary. I was also glad that it happened in the morning and not at night in the dark.
I have only run out of gas ONCE, and even then I don't even think I was the one driving, I was with Libbie and she was driving. So thank you, thank you, thank you to the guys who pushed my car to the side of the road and then returned to bring me gas!!! Also thanks to the guys who stopped to see if I needed help once I was on the side.

It's official...you're a nerd. That is hilarious that you ran out of gas. Okay sorry to laugh at your misfortune..but really...how many times have I done that. Although not on the free way or exit anyway.
